Use these settings whenever you connect a phone, desktop client, or application to SMTP Zen.
You have two options:
orion.smtpzen.com).mail.domain.com – If you issued a certificate through Manage SSL after creating the mail CNAME (see Custom Mail Hostnames), you can point clients to that vanity host instead. Use it only after the SSL status shows “Certificate issued.”Use the same hostname for IMAP/POP/SMTP so the certificate always matches.
| Protocol | Connection type | Port | Encryption |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP | Secure (recommended) | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| IMAP | Standard | 143 | STARTTLS |
| POP3 | Secure (recommended) | 995 | SSL/TLS |
| POP3 | Standard | 110 | STARTTLS |
| SMTP | Secure submission (recommended) | 465 | SSL/TLS |
| SMTP | Submission | 587 | STARTTLS |
| SMTP | Alternate | 2525 | STARTTLS |
| SMTP | Legacy (avoid) | 25 | STARTTLS |
Always prefer the encrypted options (465/993/995). Only drop to STARTTLS when a legacy device cannot handle direct SSL/TLS, and never disable encryption entirely.
Applies to every protocol:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Full email address (e.g. [email protected]) |
| Password | The mailbox password you set inside Plan Manager |
| Authentication | Normal password / plain text |
SMTP Zen requires authentication for outbound mail.
mail.domain host that already has an issued certificate. Re-run “Manage SSL” if you recently changed DNS.Keep the old provider connected inside your mail client until DNS finishes switching to SMTP Zen. This lets you drag messages between accounts or use IMAP Sync for large jobs without losing access during propagation.
